When Isaac first mentioned the idea of coming to Uplift, my immediate response was an emphatic no. I couldn’t imagine leaving the home we built and started raising our family in. I couldn’t imagine going from a 3,400 sq ft. home, to a small apartment that didn’t seem big enough for our family. However, as the idea lingered with me longer, I came to the realization that a lot of what my heart yearned for, could be made possible with this transition.

For Isaac, I didn’t like seeing him in a job he didn’t enjoy. Not everyone loves their job, but it was a weight that left him discouraged more times than not. He had also been questioning a lot of things when it came to his faith and I knew this would give him the push to have to confront some of those issues. The process is not over, but it’s necessary.

For myself, the tension between work life and mom life started becoming more and more heavy. If I focused on my job, I felt like I wasn’t being a good mom. If I focused on Wrenley and Asher, I felt like I wasn’t being a good employee. There was way too much screen time to get us through the day and not a lot of patience on my end. By the time I got to the end of the day, I was emotionally and physically drained. That left Isaac with the leftovers, which wasn’t very much.

After further discussion, we both realized we wanted more for our marriage and our family. It wasn’t a big home or lots of money that we wanted to be about, but instead we wanted to pursue a life of truth and spend more time with the people that mattered most. Both of us have been high school coaches for several years and we are excited to be able to connect and pour into the lives of those that come to Uplift. We are aware that the upcoming summer may be difficult and there are bound to be more bumps in the road, but I am also hopeful that we will be met with joy and grace in this new endeavor.

Projects on the Mountain

We continue to be amazed by the blessing of having three generations of men working on Uplift. (4 if you include the one year old Asher).

Tasks for different projects are such a joy together.

Framing the Hunt's House

Zach, Amy, and Eddie Hunt

(Brother in law, sister, and nephew)

Zach has been working hard to be dried in for the remainder of the winter. We put in some big days together to make it happen.

(The lift came in pretty handy too)

Part of the preparation process for my heart has included considering what things really matter in life.

What about Uplift Mountain is so meaningful?

I consider the people who have been impacted by Dad, Mom, Grandma Dorthy, and Grandpa Jay. I have received so much encouragement from those that care about this ministry. As I stain a board, or clean parts of the lodge, I try to think of each of you. The struggles of life, the relationships bonded, and hopefully the pursuit of deep purpose and meaning.  It is my desire to be grateful for the opportunity to join the vision that has directed the hearts of so many over the years.

Wherever you are, whatever your struggles or joys might be, continue to press into Christ. Seek truth. Ask the hard questions. Don't settle. Live a life of excellence. Take one step forward in the direction you believe to be right.

For me, those are the challenges of each day. In pursuit, the answer to the question has started to form. To shift the focus from myself, to something greater. A higher motive.

Then Jesus told his disciples,“If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it."

Matthew 16:24

I hope that this is an encouragement to each of you who read this.

I am continually amazed by the prayer and financial support given to this ministry. I am greatly humbled by all those who believe in what we pursue.

Thank you.
