JUNE UPDATE
FIRE
As I write this update the reality of the Aspen acres fire overshadows a rich month of people, ministry and work. Our faith and trust in the Lord is being tested as we consider life - altering realities.
The fire is about 12 miles from us and is 0% contained. The wind has shifted this morning (Saturday, July 4) to bring it more our way. Many have lost their homes and our hearts go out to them.
Our hopes are not in the things of this life. our hope is in the One who is and was and is to come. Pray that His will is accepted no matter the outcome and that we live with discernment. May our lives be a testimony to our Lord in this time.

We are the blue dot
Let nothing disturb you,
Let nothing frighten you,
All things are passing away:
God never changes.
Patience obtains all things.
Whoever has God lacks nothing;
God alone suffices.

SMOKE AND CLOUDS CREATED BY THE FIRE - FROM OUR PROPERTY

SMOKE ON SATURDAY MORNING - JULY 4
Thank you to so many that have reached out to let us know you are praying for us. We know we are loved and are not alone.
WORKERS COME!
We hosted a group of 28 young adults from Cross Fellowship Church in Colorado Springs that came to help us specifically with fire mitigation and gathering firewood.

These young men and women worked very hard for 4 days to clear many dead trees on the hill above the lane. We now have enough wood for the winter and the hillside looks much better and is healthier.
They also had time and energy enough to have some fun times. They joined our Gathering on Sunday and Dean had some evening sessions with them.
Many thanks to Cross Fellowship Church, Pastor Eric for putting it together and Pastor Matt for tireless leadership and encouragement, and for the energy and hearts of the young men and women who encouraged us so much.
OTHERS COME TO THE MOUNTAIN
We had a busy June

The Heberling family reunion spent 4 days with us. They enjoyed many things on the mountain together including archery

Long - time friends Kevin & Michelle Bervik came for 3 days with their home group from Denver. They had a great time connecting with each other, preparing meals, walking and worshipping. They asked dad to take some time to share the history of the mountain.

Sara Meyer (Hayes) came from Texas to participate in Vision Quest. She used to be in our youth group years ago in Westcliffe and has memories of being our nanny during two summers on the mountain. She is a dear friend and enjoyed time in the apartment, on the propery and with Heidi and I.
Not pictured - much cleaning, laundry, grocery getting, food prep, laughter, prayer, tears, worship, games and quietness. It was a rich month on the mountain!

That is all for now. Much more to share in the days ahead. Thanks to all who pray, give and encourage us!
