THE NEED FOR CLARITY

In spending much time and thought for the establishing of a new direction for Uplift Mountain I weighed each word against the truths I wanted to hold out.  Clarity made the cut.  It stands boldly near the center of the matrix between what is needed and what is done.

There are some who will say that we rarely have perfect clarity.  I heartily agree.  Most of the big decisions of my life have been made lacking the certainty I desired.  But not the clarity I needed to move ahead with conviction.  We can and must have the capacity to discern truth - even if it is dynamic truth - in order to live and act and create with purpose.

The quest for vision leads to clarity of the functional sort.  As we seek the heart and will of the Heavenly Father what he reveals to us gives us a picture of what was and what we are working with him to restore.

One of my spare time activities recently involved restoring a road bike I rode around the united states in 1987.  The bike is a 1986 Miyata 710 and has already seen many paint jobs and component swaps.

The incredible vastness of the internet allowed me to find a picture of what my bike looked like new.  With that picture, my work had direction, guidance and even detail.  I was not guessing or relying on my memory.

God's written word and the voice of creation give us a picture of what He intended and still works to redeem.  The "goodness" still echoes through time with hope and power and purpose.  We need not guess.

No, this kind of "clarity" does not help us make all our decisions - not the ones about details and circumstances especially.  But when we see Him clearly, we see all else clearly enough.  We have a picture to work with.

Keeping truth clarity and calling clarity sometimes means we must take the time needed to really see and really listen.  To, "consider" birds and flowers and stars.  It is all too easy to blur the picture of who God is and what He is about.  Take some time, reset, remember, consider and live confidently in what God reveals to you.
