TIME FOR A QUEST

A QUEST IS...

an intentional search, a journey to achieve a specific and significant goal.  Perfect.  Those things alone hold great potential and are needed for a life of meaning and purpose.  Intentional carries the goodness of meaning to.  Specific taps into the power of focus. Significant in this case means discovering the clarity and courage needed for living a life of faith.

ALWAYS OPPOSED

Because of it's purposes and potentials, a quest is something not to be taken lightly.  It almost always involves challenge, obstacles and trials.  Good quests are always opposed by the enemies of busyness, distraction and procrastination.  What if Aragorn in The Fellowship of the Ring would have said, "I would go on this quest but it is not a good time for me"?  The story would have been different for him and for everyone else.  The first step in a quest is often the recognition that it is needed, for me and for others.

A good quest need not be long or complicated it just needs to be intentional, God directed, thoughtful.  The best ones are actually refreshingly single-minded.   But single-minded does not always mean simple or easy because there is the mystery and adventure of the Living God involved.  Who knows what may happen when we set aside time to seek Him, listen to Him, open our lives to Him in new and compelling ways?  To quote Mr. Beaver - " Safe?  Of course He isn's safe, but He is good".

NOT SAFE BUT GOOD

CONSIDER IT

Take a moment to ask if a quest is needed in your life.  Maybe it would be just you - for maybe that is what is needed.  Maybe it involves your spouse, a friend, your family, a group of people you are on the journey of faith with.  Maybe it involves us, Uplift Mountain - maybe not.  But take at least a moment to search your heart and have God search your heart and see if something is needed that a quest could provide.   If so, let me know, whether it involves us or not - I would love to hear about it.
