We are small, we are family run, we are proud of that. We can give you one-on-one attention and a level of expertise we feel you would be hard pressed to find elsewhere. We aren't a business, we are a family that is passionate about what we do and we are excited to share those passions and knowledge we have learned through the years.
This course will start with the fundamentals of rock climbing and can take you as far as you want to/are able to go:
Fitness and Technique
Anchor Building and Cleaning
Fitness and Technique
Some of these skills will be learned on our indoor climbing wall, others at the crag. We will aim to spend 5 days minimum at different climbing areas in southern Colorado. We also have a crag at Uplift Mountain, as well as some outdoor bouldering routes. The climbing wall will be available for your use once you've been oriented. The distance you could take this sport is in your own hands! We are prepared to offer as much challenge as you are ready for.
This sport is just down right fun. Gain the skills and knowledge to join one of the worlds fastest growing outdoor sports.
Trail Design and Building
Riding Technical Terrain
We will have some instruction time and work on maintenance in the shop as well as build trails but the best way to gain the skill and experience is to be on the bikes often. We have miles of single track here at the camp, and enough technical terrain to challenge experienced riders. You will have access to a full suspension mountain bike and miles of pristine trail right outside your door. We will also take 3 trips to different trail locations in the state to expose you to a variety of terrain and different riding styles.
Escape into wild, beautiful, places. Learn to backpack responsibly, safely and accomplish large objectives. Learn the logistics and the practical skills needed to travel and live off the beaten path with only what you can carry on your back.
Backcountry Food Preparation
Staying Comfortable (enough)
We will go for a 5-7 day backpacking trip in the Sangre De Cristo mountains. Pristine, remote, high altitude: this trip is everything you want out of backpacking. Catch a trout out of an ice cold stream with a fly rod, climb a peak, and all the time soak in a wildness and beauty that just feels right.
Daily physical discipline has many benefits. We were made for it. Often we don't get enough in our work so we turn to more contrived, yet still meaningful, outlets. Fitness equals potential in the mountains. You can go farther, experience more and push yourself harder. In a sense the map gets bigger. During your time at Uplift you will set a fitness goal and then have help to create a training plan specific to that goal and your starting point. You will have access to many different training tools and knowledge that will help you achieve your goals long after your time at Uplift Mountain. More than a workout, we will dive into nutrition, anaerobic endurance, muscular endurance, strength training, balance, flexibility and recovery. All tailored to you and your goal.
We were made to work the earth. To harvest our food from the land we live upon. That connection has been lost, and in part we have lost ourselves because of it. Watch a hive of bees, take care of pigs and chickens maybe even milk a dairy cow and make butter. Spend hours working the garden and caring for the green house. Make a beautiful salad from vegetables you cared for, and learn how simply growing your own fresh vegetables can improve not only your own life but the world. We will spend time talking about how you can have your hands in the dirt, in some way, no matter where you live.
There is satisfaction in working with your hands and fulfillment in producing useful things from raw materials. Learn how to run a small sawmill and make meaningful crafts in our wood shop. Be a part of projects on The Mountain and gain skills by doing. Jump in on building a trail or a deck, cutting and splitting firewood or whatever is going on.
